About Lunga Lunga Municipality

Formed in 2019

Lunga Lunga Municipality was formed through grant of a municipal charter. The municipality is governed by a Board in line with the provisions of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, 2011.

As a Municipality, Lunga Lunga has the mandate of performing the following functions within its area of jurisdiction

    Promotion, regulation and provision of refuse collection and solid waste management services

    Construction and maintenance of urban roads and associated infrastructure

    Walkways and non-motorized transport infrastructure

    Construction and maintenance of walkways and other non-motorized transport infrastructure;
